THE DRESSMAKER

When I was in middle school, my grandmother would make clothing for me, and I wouldn't want to wear what she made. I wanted Hollister skinny jeans and Abercrombie and Fitch shirts. Just like everyone else in school was wearing. I also remember having a 5 subject notebook that I would fill with fashion sketches. (Mostly clothing I already saw but wanted to draw myself). Oh, how much I would stagnate my growth by denying the gifts that my ancestors have bestowed upon me. Thank Gloria for never creating clothing to impress me, but only because it was something she did out of Love. Thank God she insisted on staying true to her designer mind. I eventually came around and have been learning for years from a master dressmaker who I also get to call grandma. Now I'm able to continue the legacy she has passed down to me and share it with you. The Dressmaker is not just a designer nor is she just a seamstress. According to grandma, she does it all, and that's me.
